Well, I guess this was inevitable. If Jem and the Holograms can get the green light, it was only a matter of when, not if, it was morphin’ time again. Deadline is reporting that the Power Rangers will be returning to theaters in a new franchise. Hmm, I wonder how they’re going to reboot this one…
The new film will cast a new group of high school kids who mix their studies and social lives with the mission to save the world.
Haha, silly, that’s not a reboot, that’s the exact fucking thing you already did in the ’90s! Literally the exact thing. It’s going to be interesting to see how they play this one out in the age of Internet outrage; I can’t imagine them getting away with having the black ranger be a black guy, or more egregiously, having an Asian be the YELLOW ranger. But I guarantee, somewhere, Michael B. Jordan and Olivia Munn are letting their phones go to voicemail.
(Also, quick note about that banner pic: Jesus fucking Christ, were we too dumb in the ’90s to notice that the Blue Ranger was like 35 years old?)
