Pornhub Gets Into the VPN Game with VPNhub

VPNhub

Yes you read that right.

Pornhub is now offering a free VPN.

Yes, seriously.

Their service is called VPNhub, and it’s available for free on iOS and Android. They created it to protect their users from the prying eyes of unsecured WiFi hotspots. Pornhub’s Vice President Cory Price had this to say in the company’s statement:

Today, the Internet is rife with hackers, who are growing in number and sophistication, compromising people’s sensitive data. While browsing in incognito may keep users’ browsing history secret, truth is they’re still susceptible to prying eyes, especially when browsing on unsecured public Wi-Fi networks. Here at Pornhub, with 90 million visitors a day, the vast majority of whom are using devices on the go, it’s especially important that we continue to ensure the privacy of our users and maintain their confidentiality. With the launch of VPNhub, users will have access to the world’s fastest VPN, with over 1000 servers in 15+ countries from which to choose. Now, whether they are perusing the Internet while traveling or from an untrusted network, they can do so without worry.

While the service is free, the free version does come with some limitations. Namely with servers, as well as the fact that the free version displays ads. That said, it’s one of the few with unlimited bandwidth. And if you’d like to ditch the ads and have your choice of servers, that’s possible too. their rates are $11.99 monthly for premium service, or $6.25 monthly if you pay for a year upfront.

They’ve been promoting the new service with ads like this one, below:

I’ll be damned if I can tell you why anyone would be caught dead watching porn in the middle of a cafe. Either way, their policy states that they won’t sell or rent your personal data to others. That said, it can share “aggregate or non-personally identifiable information with non-affiliated third parties for advertising, marketing or research purposes.”

Either way, given how lucrative porn is, the service will probably be pretty good. And a VPN can be a pretty smart security measure. It’s up to you if you want to use one related to Pornhub, though.
