What do Pokémon Go Fest and Dashcon Have in Common?

Pokémon Go Fest in a Nutshell

Hint: it’s not a ball pit.

Niantic’s Pokémon Go Fest happened this weekend in Chicago. Saying that it didn’t go well would be an understatement.

For one thing, connectivity and server issues plagued the entire event. A situation that was not helped with the hosts going on about what they’d caught on stage. Things were so bad, Niantic CMO Mike Quigley took to the stage to announce that all attendees would get a refund on their $20 ticket, as well as $100 worth of Pokécoins added to their account. Furthermore, all attendees would get Lugia added to their account.

Legendary Pokémon were supposed to start appearing at the event, but you know how that song and dance goes. Still Articuno is live for raids, now. So if you didn’t pay to go and endure this mess in person, good on you. But if you’d like a taste of what it was like, bobvids’ supercut has you covered:

Yikes. I feel bad for everyone involved in Pokémon Go Fest shenanigans all around. That’s still better than the time Tila Tequila tried to sing for a bunch of Juggalos, though; mostly due to the fact that Juggalos have a far more tenuous familiarity with hygiene and not winding up in jail.
