There is a slight catch…
You might know Plex for their media collection organizing system. But soon, you may know them as a free streaming service for films and television.
Plex has been building up agreements with various studios to create a catalog of media that users can stream for free. As of late, they have deals in place to bring movies and television from Warner Bros., MGM, Legendary and Lionsgate to those users. And at no cost to the end user.
The catch, of course, being that this free content is supported by ads. Remember, there’s no such thing as a free lunch.
That said, it’s easy to see the benefits. A Plex account is free, so at no point is there a barrier to your enjoyment of their ever-growing collection of media. And for Plex Pass holders, not only do you get access to their usual streaming service and media organization tools, your streams will also have their ad count cut down to roughly one-third that of a free user. And given the fact that Plex is available on a wide array of common devices, you’ll always have a way to watch.
Plex was born out of a passion for media and entertainment, and offering free ad-supported premium movies and TV shows is just the latest step in our mission to bring all your favorite content together in one place. What started more than a decade ago as a passion project to make accessing media on connected devices easier has evolved into the most comprehensive streaming platform in the industry, used by millions of people around the world.
