The Phorm case uses dark magic to create a physical keyboard on your tablet

Phorm

What black magic is this! It’s like I’m watching a time traveler show of a gadget that won’t be invented for another hundred years. What I’m talking about is the new Phorm case for the iPad mini. Tactus Technology is the company behind this techno witchcraft and has just begun taking preorders for the Phorm.

The Phorm is looks like your standard high-end iPad mini case, but the real magic comes in when you slide a button on the rear of the case. In turn, the screen will “grow” an honest to god physical keyboard that makes typing on your iPad mini and much easier affair.

Say goodbye to those annoying bluetooth keyboards if you want to get some serious work done on your tablet. I for one love to use my tablet, but the lack of a real keyboard with tactile feedback makes me choose my laptop over my tablet 90% of the time.

The magic comes from the cases screen protector that works by using microfluidics. These aren’t as scary as they sound, but instead are just tiny little channels of fluid that are inside the screen. These fluids can retract, giving a smooth flat surface, or expand, giving the raised buttons for the onscreen keyboard.

Word is the case will launch sometime this year, but we already can;t wait to get our hands on one. You can check out the official demo video below that features the same guy that’s in every single startup video, ever.
