Peter Capaldi, who plays the 12th Doctor on the long running Doctor Who, is hanging up the Sonic Screwdriver after series 10 of the show. The actor made the announcement via the official Doctor Who Twitter page.
BREAKING NEWS!
“It (the new series of Doctor Who) will be my last… I feel it’s time to move on.”

The actor took over the role back in 2014 and will bid the Tardis farewell during the 2017 Christmas Special. It really seems like Christmas is the kryptonite to our favorite Time Lord.
Capaldi isn’t the only member of the team that is walking away from the BBC show –Steven Moffat who has served as the showrunner since 2010 is also leaving. He is being replaced by new Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch) .
The team at the BBC had wanted Capaldi to stay on as The Doctor after Moffat left, but it seems the actor passed on the offer. We don’t know the reason for him declining the offer, but this is the internet, so speculation in rampant.
So now, let the hunt for a new Doctor get under way!
