The Papers, Please Short Film Is Out Now

Papers, Please

Glory to Arstotzka.

For those of you not keeping track, the Papers, Please short film just released. And you have your pick of ways to watch it; YouTube (below), or Steam (even further below).

And since the film’s so short, it’s really hard to avoid spoiling it. But I can say that it’s probably at the top of the list when it comes to game to film adaptations. Everything certainly looks right in comparison to the game, as near as I can tell.

I was quite happy with the steps taken to add some depth in the short runtime as well. The inspector’s photo is one of those things that gives you insight to his thought process at the time. And while I wouldn’t dare guess at the quality of acting in a language I don’t understand, much of what’s done is physical. You can follow most of what’s going on in the film even If you don’t have the subtitles on.

So give Papers, Please a watch. It’s free after all. No checkpoints.
