Papa Roach (Indirectly) Jacks Monster Prom Poster For Show Promotion

I can’t think of a single Papa Roach song other than Last Resort. I’m pretty sure nobody can.

You might remember Papa Roach for their song Last Resort. It’s an edgy song that is absolutely hilarious when censored. And I mostly remember it because a friend of mine came up with the exact same parody lyrics for it almost everyone else did:

Cut my pie into pieces
This is my last dessert

Well, they’re still around. And recently, they made a Facebook post in promotion for an upcoming concert. And you might notice that the character in the poster looks awfully familiar

Oh no.

And then you find out that the poster looks awfully familiar

OH NO!

The creative director of Beautiful Glitch (the studio behind Monster Prom), Julián Quijano, spoke with Kotaku on the matter. And, to be fair, he doesn’t think the bands are necessarily the guilty party in this case. From the interview:

“I used to work in nightclubs for a couple years, and clubs and venues always do the same: their graphic designers have to do some poster designs per week for each party, concert, whatever. What ends up happening is they just Google some random cool images to alter a bit and add the info,” Quijano said. “So this is probably that: a venue that improvised a poster and their graphic designer found our poster to do so.”

Even then, the studio was more amused by the whole thing than necessarily angry about it:

“The whole thing just gave us some good laughs, silly puns and a funny story to tell,” Quijano continued. “Like… damn… 10 years ago I was dancing to Papa Roach music on a nightclub, completely unable of even imagining in the future they would be using (in a very nasty not nice way) art from a game I would create.”

Either way, the original poster was made for the game by artist Ástor Alexander (Monster Prom portfolio). You can grab a copy of the original poster over on the Monster Prom Yetee store.
