What a weird time to be Nintendo. A few short generations ago a game like Payday 2 would never have been able to make it to a Nintendo console. Mostly because of the inherit violence the game features, (you play as criminal hoodlums that love to shoot cops and steal cash) but also because Nintendo has sucked at the whole online thing.
That said, Payday 2 was originally released back in 2013 for the PC, so this isn’t really a modern game. And as a PC gamer myself, I managed to pick up the game for $1 as it has shown up in a few Humble Bundles and is a mainstay of Steam sales.
But if you missed the game being a hardcore console gamer, then this is your chance to get in on the four-player online fun. Payday 2 is an utter blast to play and a game we often come back to.
Nintendo has also stated that their will be a big announcement regarding “a huge amount of Payday 2 content” sometime later this year. Can you imagine if you could get Nintendo character branded masks? The world might just imploded on itself if that happened.
