An official Pokemon game is coming to the iPad

Pokemon

Pokemon is a name synonymous with Nintendo. Any time the franchise is mentioned the video games are usually the first thing to come to mind, followed by the television show and card game. So, the thought of playing an officially licensed Pokemon game on something other than a Nintendo console/handheld is almost beyond the scope of most people’s imagination.

Well, I am here to blow your collective minds as it has just been recently announced that the Pokemon Trading Card Game will be coming to the iPad.

I’ll wait while you all finish freaking out…

It looks as if the game in question seems to be a version of  The Pokemon Trading Card Game that is currently available on both Windows PC and Mac platforms. We have official conformation from a representative within The Pokemon Company confirming that the game is in fact real. The only thing that we don’t know is when we will have a scheduled release.

The game itself in its current form is being shown to select attendees at this weekends Pokemon World Championships to no doubt get some early feedback from the world’s top players. I have never been the kind of person to play any physical card game, the most I can say is that I dabbled with Yu Gi Oh when it was released for the PC many moons ago, I do however think an iPad version would make for some real fun.

This will be the first full-fledged game to be released on the iPad. The Pokemon Company has previously released a number of applications, but nothing on this scale.

So nice we had to show it twice
