Nintendo’s probably fed up with the bootlegs.
Up until very recently, Nintendo was, primarily, concerned with keeping their games on their consoles (outside Japan, that is). But now, they’re spreading their brand across non-competing devices. Which, interestingly enough, includes the Nvidia Shield… if you live in China, that is.

It is said to be running in HD (Not sure what that means exactly in terms of the port).

Primarily, what’s been shown are Wii games said to be running in HD on the device. The games are part of a local partnership between Nvidia, Nintendo, and Chinese video company iQiyi. It would be overly optimistic to expect this treatment outside of China. Though, considering that Wii games, even in HD, were running off the oldest technology of their generation, it’s not completely impossible…
