It really sucks to be Samsung right now. The company has a little problem with their bits and bobs, you know, blowing the fuck up. I don’t know what’s going on over there, but it sure seems like a case of Samsung products gaining some sort of sentience and revolting against their masters. It’s like we are living in a prequel to iRobot.
If exploding phones weren’t enough (and it really should be) the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an official warning regarding Samsung top-loading washing machines. Multiple reports have surfaced of these washing machines, and I need to be proper with my wording here, blowing right the fuck up.
The warning covers top-loading Samsung washing machines manufactured between March 2011 through April 2016. The organization failed to provide exact model number so it could be across the board on all top-loaders.
Samsung were quick to respond to more issues of their shit going boom boom by stating that “in rare cases,” some of their machines “may experience abnormal vibrations” when users try washing really bulky items such as bedding.
The official statement also noted that “It is important to note that Samsung customers have completed hundreds of millions of loads without incident since 2011.” I’m not sure of the acceptable limit to people’s washers blowing up, but I’m thing more than one is a tad high.
The company is taking action and recommending that users of their machines use the low-speed delicate cycle when washing heavy loads such as bedding and water-resistant materials, as there have been no issues submitted while using that setting.
If you want to know if your machine is prone to turning your home into a smoldering crater you can head over the Samsung website to check to see if you need to stop doing layndry by entering the serial number of your unit.
