Nike’s PG2 are a Controller for your Feet (Figuratively)

“Paul George loves PlayStation” the shoe.

The Oklaholma City Thunder’s Paul George considers himself a pretty big gamer. So it’s really not much of a surprise that it would spill over to his shoe deals. The Nike PG1’s were 2K themed (he was the cover model for the game). But the Nike PG2’s are more of a declaration of love; a love of PlayStation.

They’re loaded with features that probably get sneakerhounds to foam at the mouth. Since it’s all about that PlayStation love, you can see bits of Sony influence all over. The logos on the tounges light up, with one displaying the PlayStation logo (the other having Paul George’s personal logo). they operate with a button that causes the shoes to vibrate a single pulse when you turn them on, much like with a DualShock controller. The light-up lace locks are colored after the buttons on a PlayStation controller. The insole pattern was even provided by Sony for Nike.

If you want a pair, here’s the bad news: they’re limited edition, so you’re going to have to defeat the sneakerhounds to get a pair. That said, if you do lay hands on them, Paul George has hinted that they come with a key to unlock the Paul George theme on PS4, as well as a mystery bonus he was significantly more coy about. The PG2’s will hit stores February 10th, for $110.
