New Blizzard Mobile Game Announced To Mostly Ambivalence

You know what clip this is.

Blizzard announced a brand new mobile game just recently: Warcraft Arclight Rumble. And they put out a 10+ minute video to show it off.

Yeah, I’m gonna tell you to look at the lightsaber, assuming you have a means of re-enabling dislikes.

Whooo boy, that’s one heck of a lightsaber there, buddy.

Oh, and while I wasn’t the only one to make that comparison above, all of the comments are upbeat and civil, with absolutely no disparagement of the game.

I know I’ve spent the top part of this being a smartass. But if there’s one thing I can say, as far as mobile cash grabs go, this one doesn’t seem to be rummaging around in your pockets for every single dime. As associate game director Adam Kugler told PC Gamer:

We’re trying to make it as player choice as possible. There’s no loot box systems, for example. Every single time that you’re presented with something, there’s a choice for what to choose, even in the quest system. When you go fight something, you get to choose what gets experience. So at every step of the way, we want to see if we can put in a way for players to have a choice rather than just a random kind of blind selection.

Adam Kugler

Honestly, it seems mostly inoffensive. Though admittedly, the video probably could’ve benefited from a more restrained presentation. I don’t think the Civvie Sewer Counter Chaos Counter did them any favors. And hey, there are at least a few people willing to give it a shot.

Look on the bright side: it doesn’t have a gacha. I think.
