Ain’t no problem that can’t be tossed off a cliff.
If you’re a fan of Bandai Namco’s Tekken series, well, you’ve got some good news. Because Netflix is going to release an animated series based on the games later this year, titled Tekken: Bloodline.
Based on a few blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments in the trailer, the series is taking elements from across the franchise timeline. Notably, the sharp-eyed (heh) will notice a flash of Tekken 7‘s Leroy Smith. That said, the storyline seems to be fairly Tekken 3-centric. Which isn’t exactly a bad thing; that’s where a lot of fans believe the series really hit its stride. If you wanted to brush up on some of what made Tekken so damn special, ThorHighHeels put out a couple of really great retrospective videos:
This is far from Netflix’s first dabbling with series based on games. Notably, they had Castlevania, which was pretty great until a divisive third season. More recently, however, they released the League of Legends animated series Arcane, which managed to get praise even from people that hate LoL. That said, these things largely depend on the studios they partner with. In the case of Tekken: Bloodline, those details have yet to be announced.
