According to CNBC, Netflix is about to raise prices from somewhere between 13 and 18 percent across all of its tiers. New subscribers will be subject to these prices almost immediately, while current subscribers will see the new prices over the course of the next 3 months. The hike is currently only to affect U.S. subscribers, as well as Latin America. Here are the changes:
- $8 Tier → $9
- $11 Tier → $13
- $14 Tier → $16
We change pricing from time to time as we continue investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience.

The price increase is no doubt in accord with their increased spending on original content. They’ve pulled a number of awards for said content this year alone, including BAFTA awards and Golden Globes. So while it sucks that your subscription is going to cost more, you can’t say they’re not trying to provide a great service for that price.
