Netflix eyeing Wet Hot American Summer series

I love reporting awesome news. Here’s an example: Netflix might produce a Wet Hot American Summer series, based on the 2001 film of the same name. The series would be produced by the makers of the film, which, holy shit, yes.

Via Variety:

Exec produced by the movie’s creators, David Wain and Michael Showalter, the serialized “Wet Hot” would seek to reunite many of the original cast members who would play high-school-age characters despite the fact many of the actors are currently in their 40s.

While it might seem a tall order to reunite the original cast, the plan is to make it happen by having each of the actors shoot their scenes in just a few days because not every character will appear in every episode.

Keep in mind, Wet Hot American Summer boasted a cast of Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Ken Marino, Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, A.D. Miles, Molly Shannon, Jeneane Garofolo, David Hyde Pierce, Joe Lo Truglio, Christopher Meloni, and Jesus Christ, that movie was like The Expendable of funny people.

Netflix is declining to comment, but we’ll definitely keep an eye out for any news. I need this to happen, like, yesterday.
