Neon Genesis Evangelion Is Missing Its Cover Of “Fly Me To The Moon” On Netflix

Ya ran out of money too, didn’t ya, ya bastards?!

Netflix’s addition of Neon Genesis Evangelion to their service was a big deal. But, fans being fans, noticed something was missing from the service’s version of the show. Namely, the music for the end credits, a cover of Fly Me to the Moon.

It’s not the only bit of the sound missing, but it’s easily the biggest and most noticeably absent. Supposedly, Netflix Japan kept these various bits of music as well as the end credits song. So it might be a licensing issue, which is weird, considering how much money Netflix will pump into Originals that die after a single season.

The Netflix versions also seem to have deviated from the originals in certain areas, but that appears to have been the result of an updated translation that’s meant to be more faithful to the original. Namely, in regards to Shinji’s interactions with Kaworu.

That said, they have the original 26 episode series as well as End of Evangelion and Death & Rebirth. Oh well, at least you don’t have to pay a mint to watch the series in English anymore, right?
