Simon Williams is a former member of The Avengers in the comic book continuity. As is almost a requirement for on the teams application Williams was a former villain who later became Wonder Man. His original brainwave patterns were used to help create The Vision and he was later brought back from the dead to become a Hollywood action star. Plus, there is no one in the Marvel Universe that can sport a turtleneck quite like Wonder Man.
While the failed villain/hero turned actor is a pretty B-list character (I could do an entire list of terrible Avengers) Wonder Man looks to be jumping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a big way. Filming for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is currently underway and with that we got a peak at a pretty funny Easter egg.
It seems that there is a bot of the film that takes place in modern day Earth (I’m thinking post credits sequence) that shows of a theater running a Simon Williams film festival. The real treat is that the much-loved Nathon Fillion seems to be playing the role of Wonder Man’s alter ego in a number of fake movie posters.
From the romantic comedy “Oh, Rebecca!” to the horror theme “Haxan 2” Simon Willaims seems to be a big deal in Hollywood in the MCU. We can also see posters for a Tony Stark biopic done in the style of the Steve Jobs film of our universe, as well a plug for The Toxic Avenger 2.
