I’m sure Sting is gutted that he was removed.
Good news, everyone! A recent patch has finally fixed one of those big things in MultiVersus: hitboxes (and hurtboxes)! The devs put a lot of work into making sure that these boxes are more representative of character moves, so it’s less likely that you’ll get hit by complete bullshit from on high anymore. Of course, that’s not the only change according to the patch notes; they also changed Velma’s special a bit.
Instead of calling the police, Velma now solves the mystery and calls the Mystery Inc. gang and the Mystery Machine to take the bad guys away.
Originally, how it worked was Velma would passively pick up evidence while using certain moves. Once she got enough evidence, she summoned a police car that would catch one of the characters on the opposing team (assuming neither of them knew how to deal with it), and ring that character out akin to a Kirby swallow kill in Smash Bros. The problem with this, of course, was everyone pointing out that it looks really bad when used on LeBron James, the sole black character on the roster (depending on if you count lesbian space rocks), who is also a character created entirely by Warner Bros. to sell headless action figures.
Now, it’s mostly the same, except instead of a police car, it summons The Mystery Machine, which does the same thing but with a larger hurt/hitbox, which makes it easier to fend off/get hit by. Honestly, it kind of all balances out in the end.
My only problem with it is that the original was sort of an abstraction of how literally every single episode of Scooby-Doo ended.
Of course, maybe you’re the type that likes the idea of a bunch of teenagers and a dog getting murdered by some asshole in a Spirit Halloween costume. In which case, you’re sick; please get help. There’s also the joke to be made that suddenly, Mystery Inc. is now above the law. They… are the law.
For what it’s worth, there are people out there who made the whole LeBron joke that are, I guess, stunned that it was changed?
I know that feel, bro. That feel of making a joke and having it get taken completely seriously.
