Multiplayer Shooter ‘Holodrive’ Goes FREE TO PLAY On Steam

Indie game publisher Versus Evil and Brazilian game studio BitCake, today announced that their multiplayer shooter Holodrive, currently in Early Access, is officially launching today on STEAM as a free to play game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/370770/

To celebrate the move to free to play, the BitCake team is also launching their new game mode, Cocoball, which combines basketball and pinball gameplay – not with a ball, but a rather unlikely object… a chicken! There is no hot coco to be found in this new mode.

In Holodrive, players customize their character with a cool outfit, equip their weapon of choice plus a jet pack and then jump into battle in one of the many arenas. Fast gameplay is accentuated with the use of ramps and strategically placed power ups that can turn the tide of battle with an element of surprise at any time.

Players can carry up to 7 weapons at the same time and they can expand their weapon and outfit collection by opening Holopacks that grant random items, some of which are super rare. They can also ‘dematerialize’ duplicate items and weapons and craft them into other customization’s they don’t already have. Each player can also show off their own individual style with deep character customization clothing items.

The current Early Access Steam reviews are positive with the game holding a “Very Positive” rating with some 524 reviews being given. That mighty impressive for any game on the platform. Many are calling Holodrive Quake mixed with a side-scroller, and that’s interesting enough an idea to warrant a download.
