MTV will premiere two brand new relationship series tonight that follow young couples in different stages of their relationships. The one-hour block of romance will begin with “The Ex and The Why” at 6:00 P.M. ET/PT, which features stories of young adults who are hung up on their exes and are willing to do whatever it takes to win them back. Rounding out the programming block is “Time’s Up” at 6:30 P.M. ET/PT, which focuses on the phenomenon of “expiration dating,” where couples must re-evaluate their current relationships as they enter new phases of their lives that will eventually separate them.
Tonight on “The Ex and The Why,” lovesick exes Lexi and Andrew meet up with their former flames to learn why they were dumped. Lexi is still in love with her ex-boyfriend Chris. Andrew will do whatever it takes to win back high school sweetheart Laura. Tune-in tonight to see if Lexi is able to overcome her jealous ways, and if Laura can forgive Andrew for cheating.
Then on “Time’s Up,” viewers will be introduced to Kiah and Channing. Channing makes the difficult decision to join the military in order to help pay for college. These hopeless romantics will decide between continuing a long-distance relationship after Channing leaves, or calling it quits.
From 495 Productions’ SallyAnn Salsano, each episode of “The Ex and The Why” features two separate stories of young adults who are hung up on their exes. In some cases, the significant others have reinvented themselves and get the chance that most dream of: to see the look on their ex’s face when the blindfold is removed and their new self is revealed. In other cases, some get the answer to the question they have been waiting years for: why their ex broke up with them. These surprise meetings sometimes result in a second chance at love, while others wish the surprise never took place.

Produced by ITV Studios America in association with Bienstock Young Media, each episode of “Time’s Up” follows one young couple entering a new phase in their lives that will eventually separate them. The scenarios vary from attending different colleges, semesters abroad, job relocations, military deployments and more. Each episode will follow a couple as they cope with the pressure of their expiration date and document their lives in the weeks leading up to the dreaded departure. When their time is finally up and the couples must say goodbye, they are faced with the decision of staying together to beat the odds as a long-distance couple, or go their separate ways.
