You can probably guess what clip this is.

If Nintendo’s Switch has taught us anything, it’s that people like to be able to take their video games on the go. And there has been an incredible battle in the marketspace as far as third-party handhelds go. And to their credit, MSI has tossed their hat in the ring this CES with their own handheld, the Claw.

The MSI Claw is no slouch, offering some beefy Intel power, courtesy of Intel’s brand-new Meteor Lake Core Ultra processor. the base model of the Claw offers a Core Ultra 5, with the highest end model sporting an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H. These chips offer Intel’s XeSS upscaling, which is Intel’s answer to NVIDIA’s DLSS, which should push performance in many games. The kit doesn’t stop there, either, as the Claw will have 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of onboard storage, and a titanic 53Wh battery which promises a full two hours of untethered playtime with the most power-hungry AAA titles available.

As for interface, the MSI Claw features tactile buttons and Hall effect triggers and joysticks (look Ma, no drift!), as well as some dedicated macro buttons and a 7″ 120Hz VRR IPS display running at 1080p. Moreover, the handheld is reportedly designed with ergonomics in mind, so your hand will not become akin to its namesake.

The most important part, however, is that the Claw runs Windows 11. That means that it can run pretty much any PC game, likely even outpacing the Steam Deck when it comes to game compatibility. Reportedly, it will even be able to run Android games, though exactly how that will work is not yet known publicly.

While there’s no hard date for the Claw’s release, it’s penciled in for the first half of the year. And for such a device, it is priced competitively as far as the higher end handhelds go, ranging from $699 USD to $799 USD.
