Not done yet.
Almost every news source last year predicted nothing but doom for MoviePass. But the ticket service hasn’t died yet. As a matter of fact, according to Variety, the service plans to relaunch their unlimited plan. Granted, they’ve yet to announce the pricing for this plan. But MoviePass executive VP Khalid Itum has gone on record stating the plan will be up next week, so it won’t be long until we know.
Currently, MoviePass has 3 plans, each a different price point. The $10 plan lets you see three movies a month, though those must be select films. The $15 plan, on the other hand, lifts this limitation, allowing users to see any 3 films in a given month, though those films must be 2D. The priciest at $20 allows users to see 3D an IMAX films, though ist still retains the 3 movie cap.
It would be safe to assume the new unlimited plan will cost more than any of the existing plans. Mostly as the original plan, coming in at $10, was done away with due to being unsustainable. That said, if you go to the movies a lot, it will likely still have its fair share of worth. Especially as ticket prices continue to rise well above $10 per.
