Not looking good, guys.
The MoviePass app experienced an outage on Thursday night. And, for many users, it has continued to be unusable through Friday. Why, you ask?
They, uh, ran out of money.
in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Friday, they reported borrowing $5 million to pay its “merchant and fulfillment processors” to correct the interruption. They also stated that the interruption was caused by the app being “unable to make required payments,”.
And a flurry of tweets flew out across the days:

@MoviePass_CS your ticket system is still down. Two days I have not been able to use this membership. 4 of us. Two of them annual subscribers.

Any updates. My app is still not functioning. I am still unable to make a reservation. It's 10:30AM on the east coast on Friday, June 27.

I think they’re toast.
