MoviePass Is Changing Again; Get Your Refund Now

MoviePass

Do it before they run out of money! Again!

MoviePass has slowly been circling the drain for a while now. Well, if you were one of the original annual pass adopters, you were immune to the chaos of the Titanic sinking, so to speak. That, however, is no longer the case. According to The Verge, these passholders have been receiving emails like this:

We want to thank you for being a loyal member of our annual MoviePass plan. Your commitment to MoviePass has contributed to making our vision for an accessible and affordable moviegoing experience a reality. After experimenting with different models and options, we believe that our current monthly plan captures the need of our community — keeping prices low while continually striving to offer a wider selection of films.

Basically, these users have two options: continue subscribing, which shifts you to the current monthly deal; or cancel their subscription. For those that wish to cancel, you’re in luck; MoviePass  is willing to pay a refund for your early cancellation.

We are grateful to our MoviePass community and have offered a number of our annual subscribers the option for a refund if the new plan doesn’t align with their viewing preferences. With this transition, we intend to offer more film options so subscribers can continue exploring a wide variety of movies. We believe that our new plan is a positive change in the right direction and that it captures the needs and desires of most of our MoviePass community in our journey for an accessible and quality movie experience.

To put it bluntly, if you’re cancelling, you might want to get while the getting’s good. Most of MoviePass’ changes have been an attempt to stem the massive hemorrhaging of money the company has been dealing with. This is a change for a similar reason, and they’ve already run out of money before. It won’t be long until you’ll be able to get nothing out of them.
