MMPR getting a new game in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle is a re-imaging of the classic multiplayer beat-em-up. While the games that dropped on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis weren’t all that great, they were fun in their own right. The show saw a plethora of titles released in the 90s so it hard to keep track of which game this is actually paying tribute to.

That said it is nice that we are getting a MMPR game, but it has cheap written all over it. The Beat Em’ Up genre is one that pretty much died a long time ago. Aside from the odd indie game we haven’t seen a major studio release in ages. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle looks to buck the that trend.

Take a look at the trailer and tell me it doesn’t look like a Flash game from the mid 2000s. I’m nostalgic as fuck, but I still demand quality from my retro stuff. I’ll reserve judgement until I play it and you never know, it could be pretty fun.

Oh, and sexy Rita Repulsa is sort of creepy.

The game launches on PS4 and Xbox One this January.
