Mill Creek Entertainment Is Putting Out A Steelbook Release For The Street Fighter Movie (1994)

Street Fighter

Of course!

For you, the day Bison graced your Blu-ray player was the most important day of your life… but for him, it was Tuesday. Literally. Because Mill Creek Entertainment is releasing a steelbook for 1994’s Street Fighter. And its release date is December 7th of this year, which is… a Tuesday.

For those not familiar, the film is somewhat loosely based on Capcom’s Street Fighter series, Street Fighter II in particular. It’s notable for being the last major motion picture to feature the late Raul Julia as M. Bison, as well as featuring the talents of Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile, Ming-Na Wen as Chun-li, and Kylie Minogue as Cammy, among others.

As far as the Steelbook is concerned, it has a features list the likes of which is comparable to the golden age of DVD releases; surprisingly impressive nowadays, as most of the time companies just shove the film onto a disc with maybe some deleted scenes. A list of the bonus features:

  • New interviews with director Steven E. de Souza, Ming-Na Wen, Damian Chapa and producer Edward R. Pressman
  • New featurette: Van Damme at Universal
  • New featurette: Game vs. Film
  • New featurette: Game Over with Composer Graeme Revell
  • New featurette: The Making of Street Fighter
  • Outtakes and delated scenes
  • Archival audio commentary
  • Storyboard & Video Game Sequences
  • And more!

And the best part is, you can pre-order it on Amazon right now. Okay, so it’s not considered a good movie. But it does do the one thing every good bad movie must do: be memorable. Raul Julia went full bore, and hell, there are just some moments of the film you’ll never forget.
