Microsoft Renames Office To Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft

Do I look like I know what a OneDrive is?

In the beginning Windows was created. This had made many people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. And recently, Microsoft has made another move that has made people very angry, and that is renaming Office.

Yes, as spotted by Windows Latest, Microsoft has renamed Microsoft 365 Office to Microsoft 365 Copilot. Microsoft actually announced plans to do this back in December, but nobody cared because I imagine the number of people actually intentionally using Copilot for anything is much smaller than usage numbers let on. While the handful of people that knew they planned to do this didn’t really seem to like it, Microsoft, much like honey badger, don’t care. Ad they have no plans to stop at renaming Office; they plan to do this to as much of the Windows suite as possible.

This is happening because, much like every other tech company in the field, Microsoft really wants to push their AI assistant into as many homes (and programs) as possible. This is not helped by the fact that the cost of a Microsoft 365 subscription has increased for the first time in 13 years, due to this Copilot integration.

Anyway, expect this AI assisted crap to get continually more pervasive. And expect Microsoft to do way more Copilot rebranding of their various programs. Most people wonder why they went with Copilot over Cortana, a defictionalization of an AI assistant, but I guess someone at the decision-making level at Microsoft really like Microsoft Flight Simulator, or something. Hope all this rebranding works out for them; would be a shame if it doesn’t because nobody knows what the Hell a 365 Copilot is.
