So long, Xbone, we’ll miss you.
All good things must come to pass. And so, too, is it for consoles. And in the case of the Xbox One, Microsoft will no longer develop games for the console.
The news comes via an interview Axios had with Microsoft’s head for game studios, Matt Booty. According to him, the company will solely focus on developing titles for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
We’ve moved on to Gen 9.

That said, they will continue to support one game on the Xbox One: Minecraft. Booty also notes that you can play current generation games on the Xbox One via Xbox Cloud Gaming through Game Pass Ultimate.
Also, it’s worth noting that there will probably be third-party support for at least a little while longer, considering how long game development cycles have gotten. Still, the time will soon come where users will have to move up to the newer hardware if they want new games. Starfield is exclusively a Gen 9 game, and so will every first party release going forward.
