Microsoft Band Gets Major Update

Microsoft Band

Just when it seemed like everyone had jumped into the world of fitness wearables, Microsoft released their own Microsoft Band device to consumers a little while back. While the unit itself was pretty neat, it didn’t offer a lot that wasn’t already being done better by other devices. Well, thanks to a new update, the Microsoft Band is now a lot more useful for users. the tiny device now has a swipe-capable predictive keyboard which is great when you are riding and don’t want to reach into your bag/pocket to type out a quick reply. It’s also just as useful when I’m…Err, I mean when users are on the couch watching Netflix and the phone is just out of reach. You’ll also get a host of new features that will better track your workouts that include a bicycle.

While this is all a great upgrade to all those that jumped in and grabbed a Microsoft Band early, Microsoft says that the biggest update is yet to come. The team is opening up the platform and letting third-party developers get in on the action to hopefully creating, or port over, some really useful apps. Microsoft is more than a little behind on getting into the app thing (just look at the wasteland that it the Windows Phone store, but with the next update we can hopefully see this little band come into its own.
