Microids Bags Deal To Make Garfield Games

It better not ship on Monday.

Microids, purveyors of old-school licenses, has added another notch to their belt. In this case, they’ve cut a deal with Jim Davis to make not one, not two, but three Garfield games.

We are thrilled by this new agreement with ViacomCBS Consumer Products! Garfield is a well-known and family-friendly intellectual property fitting perfectly our portfolio made of popular franchises for all ages. Following successful collaborations on Garfield: Wild Ride and Garfield Kart Furious Racing, we are incredibly honored to work with ViacomCBS Consumer Products on three new games.

This isn’t necessarily an oddball choice, either. Garfield has been in a number of video games dating back to the 80’s, and some of them are actually decent. I mean, he did get added to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl as a DLC character as well. Considering Microids’ track record, these could turn out pretty good. At the very least, Microids isn’t going to wind up with a warehouse full of rotten, half-frozen lasagna. See below for reference, and enjoy that rabbit hole.

There’s no word on what form these games will take. Conceivably, though, there’s only a few types of games Garfield would actually be unsuited for; really, could you imagine a Garfield military shooter?
