In a highly Irregular format.
The entire Mega Man X series will be coming to current systems in two separate parts. Mega Man X Legacy Collection Part 1 will have Mega Man X1- 4, while Part 2 will have Mega Man X 5-6. Though one wonders if they’ll leave the stupid ass Guns & Roses references in X5.
Both collections will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Individually, they’ll cost $20 each, or $40 for the bundle (which probably should’ve just been one thing in the first place). The PS4 and Xbox One versions of the latter will feature a disc for each part of the collection, while the Switch version will feature a cartridge for the first part and a download voucher for the second. Why they decided to do that is beyond me, because the Japanese version is is physical for both parts.
The collections add a bunch of extra stuff too. Galleries, soundtracks for the firs 3 games, even the The Day of Σ short from Maverick Hunter X on the PSP. There’s even a new mode; X Challenge pits you against pairs of bosses at once, allowing you to choose 3 weapons to fight them. And yes, there’s leaderboards. Hell, they even made (roughly half of) the games look better! Sure, it doesn’t have Mega Man X Command Mission, or the X-TREME games, or Maverick Hunter X, but… um… uh…
Mega Man X Legacy Collection releases July 24th, this year. Hopefully your life doesn’t BURN TO THE GROUND before then.
