Maya Rudolph has joined the cast of The Nest, also starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, which should make fans of 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation happy (by my estimates, that would be almost everyone on the internet). The Nest will be directedy by Pitch Perfect‘s Jason Moore, and written by SNL vet Paula Pell (who also played Pete’s wife on 30 Rock). I can tell you right now, this movie is going to be Cameo City.
The Hollywood Reporter says:
The Bridesmaids actress will play a childhood friend of the duo, who portray sisters summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house. They decide to throw one final rager in the house, which turns into a cathartic experience for a bunch of ground-down adults.
Rudolph is married to There Will be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson, who hopefully pops up as her creepy high school boyfriend or something.
The Nest is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015, opposite an indie sci-fi film called Star Wars. I understand why Star Wars will take that long to make, but I can’t imagine why The Nest is making us wait 18 months to see it. I guess these three women are collectively busier than J.J. Abrams, which is probably true, now that I think about it.
