Squirrel Girl: The Comedy Series
Marvel’s New Warriors is going to be a comedy series on Freeform (formerly ABC Family, yes I had to look it up). And they’ve already cast a number of lesser known Marvel heroes that make up the team.
They’ve already cast Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us, all those AT&T commercials you see constantly) Doreen Green – Squirrel Girl. Which tells me they’re already going to use a more appealing design than that in the current comics.
They’ve also cast Derek Theler as Craig Hollis – Mr. Immortal. He can’t die, but also can’t be bothered to really engage in training.
Rounding out the main cast, they’ve got Jeremy Tardy (Dear White People) as the non-superpowered Night Thrasher, Matthew Moy (2 Broke Girls) as Microbe, Kate Comer (The Comeback) as psionic lesbian Debrii, and Calum Worthy (Austin & Ally) as Speedball… oh no, oh no, OH NO! Please do not do that. Please.
New Warriors is set to premiere in 2018. I really am hoping this skewers a few of the really overused bits that comic book adaptations do.
