The days of Marissa Mayer at Yahoo are no more. Hell, Yahoo is no more as the board of directors have filled papers to have one of the most influential internet companies ever die a painful death.
The documents (read them here) filed state that after the closing of the $4.8 billion sale to Verizon, Mayer will step down and the company will get a new name.
Mayer is not alone as many other members of the board of directors are resigning. The company wants it know that these resignations are in no way “due to any disagreement with the Company on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices.”
But the real news is the fact that Yahoo will change names to Altaba Inc. I have no idea what the point of this is as Yahoo at least has name recognition. Altaba just sounds like a cheap foreign company that makes even cheaper knockoffs.
