Somewhere, in a dim conference room in Japan, a Nintendo executive was drinking expensive chilled sake out of a crystal tumbler, looking out over the Tokyo skyline. Sales for the Wii U were doing great, so why did he feel so…adrift? Something was missing. As he took a sip and felt the ice clink softly against his teeth, the executive’s eyes widened. “I’ve got it,” he whispered. “I’ve got it! We need to give Link a fucking motorcycle!” And that’s how Mario Kart 8‘s Excitebike DLC came into being.

The Excitebike Arena will be included in MK8‘s first DLC package, and as you can see below, Nintendo has done a pretty good job of replicating the look and feel of their classic motorcyle racing game.
Thanks to Kotaku for the heads up.
