The Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise continues with a new pirate leading the series. It’s being reported that Margot Robbie is set to star in a brand new entry in the long-running franchise for Disney.
Chrstina Hodson, who wrote Birds of Prey, is set to write the film which will take place in the same world and time as that of the Johnny Depp films. This opens up the possibility of the pair meeting, even for just a quick joke.
Robbie’s film in the series will be a “wholly original” tale with new characters and not serve as any sort of in-universe reboot. What strange is that Disney is working on a separate Pirates film that will serve as a reboot for the series.
Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce both films even if it leaves us scratching our heads. I suppose we are now entering the age where films series can get rebooted while their original universe continues right alongside.
