Man Makes Commodore 64 VR

In unrelated news, blindness on the rise.

Yes, a Commodore 64 fan has managed to make a Commodore 64 VR unit. The best part is, the total cost of the project was pretty low.

64jim64 managed to piece together the parts from a bunch of cheap thrift store purchases. The one problem? There aren’t any Commodore 64 games that will work with it.

So Jim made his own: Street Defender. It’s about what you’d expect from a Commodore 64 game. While the headset isn’t very practical in and of itself, it’s not hard to see the value and potential of the concept; albeit with a few tweaks. So the next time you feel like starting a hideously impractical project, I guess keep the Commodore 64 VR in mind. Still a damn sight better than the Virtual Boy.
