Magic Duels: Origins hits PC via Steam

Magic Duels: Origins

Wizards of the Coast today launched Magic Duels on PC via Steam with its initial content release, Magic Duels: Origins, enabling fans to play this brand new digital release for free . Magic Duels: Origins introduces a new digital Magic experience, offering limitless free gameplay, hundreds of unlockable cards, many multiplayer modes-including the return of fan-favorite Two-Headed Giant. The game is available today on Steam for PC and will hit the Xbox Games Store for Xbox One on July 31. Magic Duels: Origins will also makes its way onto PlayStation 4 later this year.

Magic the Gathering is a huge franchise, I saw it myself has the line for the new Planeswalker card thing at SDCC was insane, but it faces an uphill battle. Hearthstone is pretty ingrained on both mobile and PC (the console market is ripe for the pickings still) and after the less than stellar outing on PC last time, the game has a lot to make up for.  Still, it’s F2P so at the very least I’ll be giving it a look see. Perhaps this will be the version that actually gets me into the whole Magic thing.

Magic Duels will feature regular content updates that reflect the latest Magic: The Gathering card sets, starting with Magic Origins, providing a deeper connection to the paper sets that are released each year and following the ongoing storyline set in the Magic Multiverse.
