Fans of the long off air SciFi underground hit, Farscape can rejoice, as we now have official word that a movie is in the works. A brief synopsis of the series, for those that aren’t aware is as follows: Earth astronaut John Crichton is unexpectedly hurled to a distant part of the galaxy via a wormhole. He is dropped into the middle of an escape attempt by Moya, a living spaceship, from the militaristic Peacekeepers, who had been using it as a prison transport. In the chaos he has an accidental collision with a Peacekeeper fighter, resulting in the death of its pilot. Although the escape is successful, the Peacekeeper Captain, Bialar Crais, fixates on Crichton as the murderer of the pilot – his brother – and begins a campaign to chase Crichton down.
Of course the show get a great deal more involved, it was abruptly canceled after it’s fourth season. Five season were originally planned, and as such, the show ended on a cliffhanger. The official news happened during this weekend WonderCon convention (you can check our coverage of WonderCon here)
Confirmation of the film comes from TV.com:
Just a little bit of, maybe interesting, information to report. ;-p Texting me from WonderCon, a very good friend of mine (@PaulBurrows) just left the Showrunners Panel at [WonderCon]. A panel member, non other than Rockne O’Bannon, the co-creator ofWarehouse 13, Defiance, and Revolution… who was also Farscape‘s creator and showrunner – has indeed CONFIRMED a Farscape movie is happening.
SpoilerTV gave us more insight with a quote from O’Bannon
“Yeah, yeah it’s the worst kept secret…We’re far from production, but yeah, the first step is Justin [Monjo] working on a script for us. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.”
