Because creativity was ritualistically sodomized to death by Michael Bay after Transformers crossed the billion-dollar mark, the way has been paved for Hasbro’s forthcoming My Little Pony film, which will be released in 2017 (based on a script by Ice Age: Continental Drift writer Joe Ballarini).
Hasbro President Stephen Davis told Variety:
“We will continue to make big tentpole movies with our studio partners,” Davis said of franchises like “Transformers” and “G.I. Joe,” at Paramount, and “Monopoly” and “Candy Land” at Sony, “but there is another set of movies where we feel we have an opportunity to have a bit more control over the budgeting, financing, calendarization [Ed. note: not a word], marketing and creative of our films. There are new economic models that fit certain films.”
So it looks like we can look forward to an MLP trilogy, probably concluding in 2022, followed by eight or nine direct-to-DVD sequels. Oh, and if you have a daughter, don’t take her to this. There is a 100% chance that bronies will be jacking off in the theater.
