Today is a sad day not only for Star Trek fans, but for fans of science fiction, as the legendary Leonard Nimoy has passed away at the age of 83. The actor (I”m sure I don’t have to explain to you, but…) was best know for his role as Mr. Spock on the groundbreaking television show Star Trek. He would also go on to star in 6 Star Trek films and take part in cameo roles in the latest 2 Star Trek reboot films.
The New York Times reports that, “The sonorous, gaunt-faced actor who won a worshipful global following as Mr. Spock, the resolutely logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and movie juggernaut “Star Trek,” died on Friday morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. He was 83.”
That last posting that Mr. Nimoy made on Twitter was, “A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. [Live Long and Prosper.]”
“Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most…. human.” -Kirk
