We live in a world in which getting a new fighter to play as in a fighting game is going to cost you money in some silly DLC pack. Sure, back in the day we would have to prove our skills by beating the game with every character, beating a game without losing a match, punching in some obtuse code, and so on. Today all you have to do is head to the in-game store and buy whatever character that is probably already on the disc. Even worse is that you now probably buy alternate costumes when once you, you know, just held select at the character select screen.
Thankfully, it seems that SNK Playmore’s Yasuyuki Oda stated that The King of Fighters XIV will release with 50 characters when the game hits stores. Speaking with Japanese gaming publication Famitsu, Oda stated that,”It wouldn’t be a KoF game with a small number of characters, after all.”
