Jon Bernthal to Play The Punisher on Season 2 of Daredevil

Punisher

Daredevil was a hell of a show for both Marvel and Netflix. Many were worried about how the character would adapt to television, especially on Netflix, but also if they could erase the checkered past the character had on film. As you already know, the show was a huge hit and serves as the best show Marvel has on television, but is also objectively one of the best properties the company has anywhere.

Season 2 of Daredevil is a go with a release sometime in 2016, and the show is going to someone close to Daredevil in the comics come into his life. The Punisher is set to play a role in the second season of the series and will be played by Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal. The Punisher has also seen his fair share of screen time with three films to the character’s name with three different actors, but since Marvel reacquired the rights in 2010 from Lionsgate, the character has been silent.

The official description that Marvel this version of Punisher is as follows:

A vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results.

This will no doubt put Frank Castle at odds with Matt Murdock as the two may have the same goal, but have very different ways of seeking justice. I’m excited for the kind of stories Marvel can tell with these two characters.
