I can’t help but feel like we’re all going to be overly critical and suspicious of any Fargo casting announcements. The show’s first season was cast so perfectly, so now, like True Detective, we’re wondering if lightning will strike twice.
Fargo seems to know what it’s doing so far. Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad) and Kirsten Dunst (Kirsten Dunst) have just joined the cast as a married couple, joining the previously-announced Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice), who’s most likely playing a young Lou Solverson.
From a press release:
Dunst will play “Peggy Blomquist,” a small town beautician with big city dreams who is trying to figure out who she really is and what she really wants as she struggles with traditional societal expectations. She shares her home with her husband “Ed” (Plemons), a butcher’s assistant, who wants to be supportive of his wife’s self-discovery, even if he doesn’t quite understand it.
Yep, sounds like Fargo to me. Plemons will be right at home in Noah Hawley’s universe, but I find myself wondering how Dunst will fit in with her whole “everybody thought I was really hot in 2002” schtick.
