IDW Announces Star Trek: Voyager Mirror Universe Comic

It honestly just makes sense.

So, Voyager’s kind of like Star Trek TNG; it had no real Mirror Universe episodes. Which may have been a blessing at the time. After all, Deep Space 9’s Mirror episodes are… uh… not good. Fantastic show, terrible Mirror Universe episodes.

Well, IDW did a pretty good job with their Mirror Universe TNG comics, so they’re going to be giving the same treatment to Voyager. Star Trek: Voyager: Mirrors and Smoke features a metal-armed Janeway declaring herself the Pirate Queen of the Quadrant, which is obviously an evil thing to do for a normal Starfleet Captain. But this is Janeway, so same shit different day for her. She did make Admiral, and as we all know, Starfleet Admirals are, for the most part, evil as all hell; you can count the ones that aren’t on one hand.

“As a child, Star Trek taught me about the power of exploration, the value of kindness and empathy, and the triumph of intelligence and logic over violence and anger,” Allor said. “And now, I am so excited to throw all of those values out the window and tell the story of the Mirror Universe Voyager crew pillaging and plundering its way across the far reaches of space.”

Star Trek: Voyager: Mirrors and Smoke writer Paul Allor

Regardless, it’ll probably be a pretty good book. Mostly because it’ll stay true to Janeway’s character, as expected from the Mirror Universe. And it gives us a look at an evil version of her more stable crew, too. Also, Neelix will probably die, thus causing Tuvok to feel happiness.
