Well, you have options now if you can’t get your hands on the Classic.
While the SNES Classic is set to release on September 29th for $80, there are a few concerns. After all, the NES Classic sold out pretty quick, becoming scalpable for 3-4 times its MSRP. And while Nintendo’s producing more of the SNES Classic than its predecessor, you might still be out of luck. But that’s where the Supa RetroN HD comes in.

Hyperkin has several console clones on the market, along with controllers. The Supa RetroN HD is merely their latest way of competing in the market. While the SNES Classic will have 21 games including the previously unreleased Star Fox 2 and two wired controllers with HDMI output, Hyperkin’s box has an answer to that. The Supa Retron HD can play all 783 officially-released SNES carts. It upscales everything to 720p HDMI, with your choice of aspect ratio as well. And while it only comes with one of Hyperkin’s controllers, it’s compatible with pretty much any SNES controller/controller clone on the market.
But here’s the kicker: the Supa RetroN HD will likely be priced to compete with the SNES Classic. So which should you gun for? Well, that’s up to you. Even beyond the two, there are a number of options available on the market, doubly so if you’re willing to put in a little work building something. But only one will have a complete version of Star Fox 2 out of the box. So your decisin will likely pivot on that.
