But prepare to be upset.
So people knew that Homefront: The Revolution held a bit of 4K TimeSplitters 2. But the revelation that it was the entire game in 4K, merely protected with a passcode, was perhaps the one of the biggest bits of news to release all week.
This comes from a thread over on Twitter asking for developers to share their best easter eggs that they hid away in their games. And it features a fair few good ones. But the best undoubtedly came from Matt Phillips, formerly of Crytek, stating that the entirety of TimeSplitters 2 was meant to be playable at the arcade machine in Homefront: The Revolution.
There’s just one major caveat, as he goes on to say. Specifically: the codes to access it have been lost to the mists of time, like Greek fire. And all due to a Discord ban.
Lamentably, THQ Nordic has no plans to remaster TimeSplitters 2, either. A lamentable state of affairs. But there’s always hope, right? And who knows; there’s some pretty enterprising hackers that work on games out there…
