There have been a dozen or so Hitman games so this one getting the “3” moniker only serves to confuse me. That said, the third entry in the modern series will be an Epic Store exclusive when the game releases next year. I don’t know about you but I don’t see this announcement going over well.
The whole exclusive thing is something that should stick to the console wars people and makes less sense on PC. Oh, well, I guess the fanboy thing takes hold on all fronts. Sure, I love Steam because its old and I have thousands of games and friends on their, but its just another Store and not a lifestyle.
You might be asking why the store exclusivity and I don’t have a definitive answer outside of lots of money being thrown to the publisher. Although it should be noted that Hitman 3 will be the first time in the history of the series that IO Interactive will self-publish the game, the last few being in the hands of Square Enix.
To celebrate, Hitman (2016) will be the free game on offer through the Epic Games Store starting on August 27th and running through September 3rd.
